Review: Who Gives a Crap Toilet Paper
First off, I'll go ahead and say that their toilet paper is so cute and I get excited when I get another order of toilet paper in?? Like, I get excited about toilet paper now. But besides their beautiful packaging that makes having toilet paper fun, their brand is basically saving the world.
Here's how:
It's plastic-free!
Each roll is individually wrapped in beautiful paper that people reuse in so many different ways! I compost the cardboard roll and the wrappers. The only plastic is the tape on the box lids, but this is being removed for paper tape.
Who Gives a Crap tries their best to reduce all of their plastic, and in honor of Plastic Free July they have a challenge going on to inspire you to reduce your own plastic waste.
They donate 50% of their profits
This blows my mind because when I was earning my degree in marketing, we always talked about this term called "corporate responsibility." This is where corporations should take charge and give back to their community with their profits and platform. This usually results in initiatives like Delta donating 1% of their profits or having the option at Wal-Mart to donate $1 to hospitals. While this is doing some good, is that really all businesses can do for our communities around the world??
So when I found Who Gives a Crap and realized they donate 50% of their profits, I was emotionally moved. The brand has already donated over $1,200,000 USD to charity. These donations fund building toilets and improving sanitation in developing countries around the world.
The toilet paper is made of recycled paper
Of course, I love a brand that uses recycled materials because:
1. It makes no sense to create waste for a product that we use in just a few seconds.
2. According to National Geographic, toilet paper destroys 27,000 trees every day. Who Gives a Crap is combating this problem with a real, sustainable solution.
There's an option for bamboo toilet paper
For those who don't know why this is more sustainable than regular paper, bamboo grows at a much faster rate than trees because it is a type of grass. The bamboo roll is their premium toilet paper that still doesn't use any trees to make (man, they're killing the sustainable game).
How is the product?
Like I've said, I've been using this product for 7 months, so obviously I love it. The toilet paper is 3 ply which is comfortable and soft to use. I like that I can compost the cardboard roll in the middle and the wrapper around the toilet paper.
I love the 100% recycled toilet paper, but if you're looking for something a little softer (you toilet paper snobs out there) try their bamboo option.
Their rolls are double-length (400 sheets a roll) and I feel like they last forever. I have had many people talk to me about this on my Instagram! They send 48 rolls and I swear it lasts 5x longer than I anticipated. It does state on the site that they are jumbo rolls with 400 sheets a roll- so I guess that's why they last for eternity.
Let's face it, this brand is amazing. If you're into saving forests and having toilet paper that's prettier than you, click HERE.
