Sustainable Gift Guide 2023

Hi friends!! So with christmas just around the corner, it’s time to drop my annual gift guide 🌈🥳

Since I care so much about sustainability and consuming consciously, I’ve gone back and forth on how I feel about gift giving,

but ultimately landed here - to give, and give intentionally.

Gift giving is a beautiful act and if you pay attention, you can really find something for a loved one that makes them smile. How I learned to be a better gift giver is to think of these two questions when thinking of gifts for people I love:

  1. Do they have any passion projects they’re working on in the next year?

  2. When are they happiest?

I saw these questions on TikTok and it’s been SO helpful for me!!

For example, my grandma loves birds so I’m making her birdseed ornaments for her porch. Or my friend has a new-found passion for junk journaling, so I’m giving her fun supplies to pursue her new hobby. If a friend even just loves to relax, the perfect gift could be a candle and their favorite candy. Turns out gift giving doesn’t have to be difficult, you just have to pay attention.

So with all of that in mind, here are gifts for the conscious consumer this year!

Chagrin Valley Soap

In honor of the season of Hygge, Chagrin Valley Soap is the perfect gift for self care. They’re a family owned, sustainably-made business and their lavender rosemary bath salts and body scrub are DIVINE (oh, and they’re plastic free)

Baggu crescent bag

Anything from Baggu is a great gift for its price-point but also the brand is so innovative and makes all of their products from 100% recycled plastic. From reusable bags to slippers to fanny packs, I love Baggu and the creative products they have!

MadHippie

I love receiving skincare as a gift because skincare is the perfect form of self care! And MadHippie is an ethically sourced & sustainable skincare brand whose products I LOVE.

You can take their skincare quiz here and find products that are best suited for your needs. I personally love their Super A Serum and Vitamin C Toning Mist!! (and if you don’t use Vitamin C yet, you need to)

You can shop at Madhippie.com or find them at Ulta

Rat Betty Rings

Rat Betty rings are made of recycled silver and I’m obsessed. I got one earlier this year and I’ll be investing in another piece from them too! They’re so unique and this heron ring will be my next ring investment for SURE.

Coockind

Quarantine has made me fall in love with skincare, and Cocokind is one of my absolute favorites. First off I’ve worked with the brand a ton and they care so much for their employees, their content creators, and more importantly, the planet. They’re making effective skincare accessible (sold at Target) and their packaging is so aesthetically pleasing.

My absolute favorites from them are the Rosewater Toner and the Texture Smoothing Cream.

Etsy Jewelry

Over the years I’ve fallen in love with finding jewelry from small venders on Etsy. It’s such an easy way to find small businesses and invest in unique pieces to add to someone’s wardrobe

Etsy craft supplies

If you have a craft lover in your life, you need to look into the craft section at Etsy. This year I bought a large chunk of my presents from etsy because of how unique their craft bundles are!! Here’s to supporting others’ passion projects this year

Nuuly gift card

If you know me you know I loveee Nuuly. I rent from Nuuly for events like work trips, weddings, vacation, literally anything that requires clothes that aren’t my normal, day to day wear. Renting a month for someone is the perfect way for them to explore their personal style and not have to break the bank for an upcoming event in their life!

Youth to the People

Youth to the People is a skincare brand making pro-grade vegan products out of superfoods! Using local suppliers, ocean-safe ingredients, glass bottles, and recyclable packaging, they are committed to sustainability. By 2024, Youth to the People will have donated $1 million to nonprofit organizations in the climate space and they’ll be net zero by 2025.

Homemade sugar scrub

I love love love homemade gifts and this sugar scrub recipe is so cozy. It’s the perfect little gift to show someone a little love for the winter
