Hi, I’m Jess!

I’ve been in love with the planet my whole life, and then one day I had a realization: Am I doing anything to protect it? Overtime I have realized my individual impact on the planet, and now I show the simple things I do daily to lessen this impact. We can’t do it all, but these actions multiplied by millions of people are creating a culture with the environment in mind.

Are you wanting to grow a community on Instagram, but you don’t know where to start?

When I started Impact for Good on Instagram, I was a Senior Year Marketing major taking social media marketing classes and also had a social media marketing job. I was learning so much about social media and grew my page from 0 to 10,000 followers in 4 months with no photography experience and only shooting with an iPhone 7. In 9 months, social media became my full time job! Allllll of this to say- I use my Patreon to give all of my tips and strategy for social media.

Why Low Waste?

Low Waste Kitchen with Bamboo Dishrack

Right now we live in a linear economy where we buy a product, use it, then throw it “away.” Turns out this “away” place we have made in our minds is actually the landfill and our oceans. The Great Pacific Garbage Patch exists because of this linear economy that has been created, and living a low waste lifestyle is how myself and people around the world are challenging this throw away system.

For me, low waste living is how I vote for a better world. I want cleaner air, cleaner oceans, and a world where companies care about the planet. And while I can vote for these things on the ballot, I can also vote with my dollar.

For me what this has looked like over the last 2 years is anytime I run out of a product, I ask myself “what’s the more sustainable alternative to this?” I think of this question when I buy clothes, toiletries, and even food.

And this question has changed my life. I have reduced my waste significantly by asking myself this question repeatedly for 2 years, and now I share with my community every day about how they can do this too.
